The Montcalm district

One of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Quebec City, which dates from the end of the 19th century. The neighborhood is mostly residential, but it has a unique blend of urbanity and nature. Cartier Street gives it a very urban character, because of multiple restaurants, cafes, bars, small shops, a cinema, a large museum. On the other hand, the large Park of the Plains of Abraham with its 12 km of walking or running trails, roller-skating trails, the Joan of Arc Flower Garden, and in winter cross-country skiing trails, an ice ring, its ancient trees, and large green spaces, are just across the street. So, in the morning you can take a pleasant walk surrounded by nature in the park, and then walk to Cartier Street where you can have a coffee, a drink or a good meal with friends, then do errands and return home while walking.

Other very beautiful parks are located in the Montcalm district: the Parc des Braves, the Jacques-Marquette Park, the Franciscans Park with a community garden, and the Lucien-Borne Park, which is located behind the community center of that name.

In addition, several elementary, secondary and college institutions are located in the neighborhood: Anne-Hébert School and Joseph-François-Perreault School, of the Capital School Board, St-Joseph Institute, Collège Mérici and Quebec High School.
